• Timbers are graded for appearance and heart specs: free of heart centers (FOHC), boxed heart center (BHC), and no heart spec. Specified grades of dense and select structural available.

GREEN & DRY TIMBERS
Timbers can be shipped green, kiln dried or radio frequency kiln dried. Approximate moisture contents are:
• GRN-22-24%
• KD-19% or less
• RF-19% or less

Timbers are available in #1 #2 Dense and Select Structure. Heart Specification of FOHC (Free of Heart Center), BHC (Boxed Heart Center), or NHS (No Heart Spec).

• Bright Natural Color: No chemical oxidation, heat discoloration, or brown stain during drying. RF dried wood retains its natural color with the appearance of freshly sawn wood.
• No "Wets": Wets are eliminated.
• Reduced Checking: Stress-free drying at low temperatures substantially reduces checking.
• Stress-free Wood: Even penetrative RF heating ensures that the entire cross-section of wood dries uniformly and yields an even moisture distribution from the surface to the core.
• Minimized Distortion: Timbers are restrained during drying to prevent the wood from moving during drying, nearly eliminating twist, bow, cup, crook, and warp.
• Less Shrinkage: Approximately 3% shrinkage from green compared to 5% or greater with traditional kiln dry systems.
